But I digress

 What's in a name?

We here at But I digress have spent months and months devouring every post on Blogstream in search of clues to people's real identities. In somes cases we came up with just first names, but in others, we discovered the whole shebang. So, in our first installment, we give you:

We discovered, for example, that Whit from Whit's Whittling is really none other than George W. Bush himself. You see, George/Whit likes to post under anonymous names all over the Internet. You can see his work at other blogging sites as well. He likes to keep his pulse on what people really think about him. He does this all because he really doesn't have anything else to do, like, say, run a country or anything.

VenusVexed, AKA six-foot blonde: Her name is Marilyn. We here at But I digress think she calls to mind another hot blonde named Marilyn. But that's just us.

ColoConnect from Second Chances is believe it or not former Texas Governor Ann Richards. Ann Richards uses her anti-Bush sentiments on her Blog (she did after all lose to George W. Bush in the 1994 Texas Governor Election, and infamously remarked to the senior Bush, "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out." But Richards is also very intelligent and very adept at poetry. And that also shows in her blog as well.

Part 2 coming soon to a blog post near you.

 Fan of the day, 7-6

Believe it or not, BlackNapalm is world-renowned. He is critically acclaimed in everything he does. He has a large, world following. We here at But I digress will post occassional blogs from some of BlackNapalm's biggest fans.

For this installment, we chose the talented British singer George Michael. Read below for what the former lead singer of Wham! has to say about BlackNapalm.

Born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou to a Greek father and English mother, George Michael rose to fame as the lead of the British group Wham! with Andrew Ridgeley in the early 1980s. They had a few hits, including Last Christmas, Freedom and Bad Boys. Michael found great success as a solo artist a few years later, debuting his Faith album, which had four No. 1 hits in the United States. His work covers a variety of pop styles, from ballads to funky dance tracks. In a career spanning more than twenty years, George Michael has been responsible for more than 80 million album sales, according to reports. Michael agreed to meet with But I digress interns in Los Angeles for lunch. Michael was looking quite dapper, with his traditional couple-days growth beard. He was wearing jeans and a T-shirt. For lunch, he ordered a chicken caesar salad.

But I digress: Thanks for meeting with us George.
GM: No problem.
BID: So, what's your association with Black Napalm?
GM: Well, we go back probably about 25 years. At one point, Andrew and I were looking to add a third guy to our group, Wham! He was one of the musicians who we auditioned. He's quite an accomplished guitar player.
BID: So, did he join your band?
GM: Well, he probably would have, but then I went on a solo career and Wham! fell apart. He did play some studio sessions with me when I was recording Faith and Listen Without Predjudice, though.
BID: Do you guys still hang out?
GM: When we get the chance; unfortunately, that isn't a lot. He doesn't travel that much to the UK anymore, and I don't get to the States much either. But he's a good friend.
BID: Does he still play music?
GM: He does a lot of things. I'm trying to get him to play backup with me when I go on tour in England later this year.
BID: That would be cool.
GM: Yeah, it's my first tour in 15 years.
BID: Any plans for U.S. stops?
GM: We're talking about it, but if it happened, it probably wouldn't be until early 2007.
BID: Well, George, we know you're busy, but thanks for chattling with us.
GM: You're welcome.
BID: One last question: Tell us something we don't know about BlackNapalm.
GM: Hmmm. Good one. Ok, the whole semi-beard and leather jacketed image I had on Faith, well, I stole that look from Black. He always gives me a hard time about it every time he sees me. He says I owe him. And I do, too.

 Five Monday questions

We here at But I digress thought we'd stir up some Monday fun. Answer these questions here or take them and post them on your blog.

1. Have you made love to someone you were truly in love with?
2. What's your guiltiest guilty pleasure?
3. What's the most you've ever gone over on your cell phone and had to pay a high penalty?
4. Peanut or regular M&M's.
5. If it's not your real name, how did you come up with your Blogstream name?

OK, us interns here at But I digress have Black Napalm's permission to post his answers:

1. Yes, but just once, he said. And that one time left him desiring, longing for one more time (or a lot more!).
2. According to Black Napalm, cookies.
3. Black Napalm said he went through a three-month period where his cell phone bill hit $400, $500, and $400. The overage amounts were because he spent inordinate amounts of time talking to the love of his life. He vows it will never happen again.
4. Peanut of course.
5. According to Black, he was born during the height of Vietnam. His mom named him black, because it was her favorite colour, and Napalm because it was a term in the television news a lot.

 Fan of the day, 6-30

Believe it or not, Black Napalm is world-renowned. He is critically acclaimed in everything he does. He has a large, world following. We here at But I digress will post occassional blogs from some of Black Napalm's biggest fans.

For this installment, we chose to go close to home with the little guy himself, Black Napalm Jr., who turned 13 today. Read below for what Junior has to say about his old man, Black Napalm.

Black Napalm Junior hit his first big age milestone today, with his 13th birthday. Junior is an aspiring musician -- he plays both the trombone and piano -- and is very intelligent. He's enjoying his summer off before he begins his last year in middle school -- and his last year before high school. He agreed to chat with But I digress interns in between battles on his Xbox. He was wearing shorts, had unkempt hair like other teens, and was munching on Pringle's potato chips.

But I digress: So, you turned 13 today?
Black Napalm Jr.: Yep
BID: What's that like?
BNJ: I dunno. Feels just like when I was 12, I guess.
BID: So, what did the old man get you?
BNJ: He actually hasn't even called me to wish me happy birthday yet.
BID: Really?
BNJ: Yeah, he's a pretty busy guy. Hold on ....

During the interview, Junior did indeed receive a call from his old man.

BID: So, that was him, huh?
BNJ: Yep, he said he was waiting until the afternoon to make sure I was awake.
BID: Do you sleep late?
BNJ: Yeah. Like I usually get up by 1 p.m.
BID: Hmm. Must be nice. So, what's it like to be Black Napalm's son?
BNJ: I don't know. He's a good dad, I guess. But he's mean.
BID: Explain.
BNJ: He thinks I should get straight A's in the private school I go to. If I get a "C" I get in trouble.
BID: So he has high expectation for you.
BNJ: Yep, in everything but sports. I know he wishes I was physically gifted, but he's never pushed sports onto me.
BID: Was your old man a good athlete?
BNJ: Yeah. He's pretty much good at anything he does.
BID: What exactly does he do?
BNJ: I don't know really. He's hardly ever home. I know he works long hours.
BID: What does your dad encourage you to do?
BNJ: Ever since I remember, he's encouraged me to read. He's always buying me books and encouraging me to explore different artsy things like painting. He also encouraged me to play music.
BID: How is that going?
BNJ: Good. I might play with the high school band next year, even though I'll be only in 8th grade. That's cool because they get to travel to places like Disney Land.
BID: Thanks for talking to us Junior. We don't want to take up any more of your Xbox time.
BNJ: OK.
BID: One other thing. Tell us one thing about your dad people might not know.
BNJ: Hmmmm. I heard he once turned down a college baeball scholarship because he didn't want to leave his girlfriend behind.
