Believe it or not, BlackNapalm is world-renowned. He is critically acclaimed in everything he does. He has a large, world following. We here at But I digress will post occasional blogs from some of BlackNapalm's biggest fans.
For this installment, we chose the most-talented, craziest motorcycle daredevil since Evel Knievel, Mr. Travis Pastrana.
Travis Pastrana is a 23-year-old from Maryland who has unmatched talents on a motorcycle. He is considered the freestyle motocross king, pulling off such tricks as the 360, different multiple combinations of the single backflip, including a superman seatgrab backflip, and of course, he's the only person to pull off the unbelievable DOUBLE backflip. He's also talented in racing as well, having collected a national title in motocross. He is currently lighting up the world in Rally Car racing. We sent But I digress interns to Maryland to interview Travis at his home.
But I digress: Hey Travis. Travis Pastrana: Hey (throws the interns a couple of motorcycle helmets). Strap them on, we're going to the foam pit. BID: Huh? I don't think we have insurance for that. TP: Ha. BlackNapalm didn't tell you, did he? Anyone who comes to my house has to do tricks. BID: We've never even ridden motorcycles. We're girls. Are you trying to kill us? TP: You've never ridden? What are you doing working for BlackNapalm? BID: Well, he's kind of cute. TP: Hah! That old dog. Well, you're here now, so you might as well learn from the master.
...... 30 minutes later .......
BID:Travis, that was kind of fun. TP: It always is. Next time you come out here, I'll have you doing backflips. BID: How do you know BlackNapalm? TP: I was at an industry event out in Colorado and we met. I was alot younger then, so he took me and my family out to dinner. We invited him to our place in Maryland, and he's been a family friend ever since. He's a great guy, and is always looking out for me. BID: Do you guys ride together? TP: Yeah, I taught him some tricks. But he chickened out on the backflip. He wouldn't do it. I still give him a hard time about that. BID: In his defense, a lot of people would probably chicken out with that. TP: That's the problem with people. They don't face up to their fears. You'll never be truly free unless you face your fears. BID: Hmmmm. TP: What's old Black up to now anyway. I haven't talked to him lately. BID: He's in his shell. And he's been drinking a lot lately. TP: I told him that stuff isn't good for him. Hold on a minute..... (Travis whips out his cell phone, punches in a number. "Napalm, it's Gimp. You better knock that drinking stuff off. I don't want to hear about again. You need to get out here and do that backflip. Later. ) TP: I just left him a message. BID: When you talk with him, can you tell him to pay his interns a little better. TP: (laughs) What, the travel and the chance to meet me isn't enough? (laughs) What else you want to talk about? BID: Tell us one thing people about BlackNapalm that no one else knows. TP: He is a prankster, always looking to pull something on someone. He just hasn't got me yet, though. BID: Thanks Travis, it's been nice talking with you. TP: No problem.
